“Check” Me Out!!!

Hey.

Check me out.

I’m, like, doing stuff…

you know — stuff

like…

um…

making a list.

Yep, I made a list.

But wait, it’s more exciting than that.  Not only have I made a list, I’ve actually checked a few items off said list.  Pretty cool, right?

Do I sense some virtual high fives coming my way?

Whoa, all this attention is kinda giving me a big head — I don’t want to get too cocky.   I mean, I haven’t even started putting paint on the walls quite yet.

Though, I’ve got to say — Liam’s room is looking like it is ready for something magical to happen.

Check it out: Remember this???

Well, feast your eyes on this…

and this…

and this…

I smell magic in the air, and a hint of fairy dust.

Here is my official TO DO LIST for Liam’s bedroom that I am checking off slowly but surely.

Liam’s Bedroom Checklist

  • take pictures off walls CHECK
  • organize toys, clothes, etc. CHECK
  • tidy up bedroom CHECK
  • move some furniture & other items out of bedroom CHECK
  • cover up furniture left in bedroom CHECK
  • patch up & sand holes in walls
  • wash walls, trim, & ceiling surfaces
  • prime walls where needed
  • paint trim & door
  • paint walls & ceiling
  • install new ceiling light fixture
  • figure out what dresser & desk to use (buy new or re-use what we have — possible refinishing work needed)
  • purchase and/or make shelving & storage units for collections
  • purchase and/or find vintage maps & images to use
  • purchase and/or find jars and containers for collection display purposes
  • pull out carpet
  • install new flooring
  • put it all together

Okay, my big head is now deflating and is starting to spin a little.

DEEP BREATH…

…lots of work ahead of me, but I have faith I will check off each and every item on my list.  Step by step.

Damn, it happened again.  Whenever I use this age-old adage, I think of this.  Or this.  Go on, click if you dare. You know you want to.

It’s funny, but the lyrics to the chorus of the Step by Step theme song are somewhat reflective of my life right now.

Step by step
Day by day
A fresh start over
A different hand to play
The deeper we fall
The stronger we stay
And we’ll be better
The second time around

Huh…who knew that a cheesy 90’s sitcom theme song from my youth could be resurrected 20 years later and be relevant in my life as an adult.  GULP…has it really been 20 YEARS???!!!  Does anyone know if the New Kids on the Block have changed their name to the Old Farts on the Dock yet?
