Alright folks…here you go. I have created a slideshow of the renovations and updates we have made over the last couple of years to our downstairs; the biggest changes were to our kitchen and downstairs bathroom. We did everything ourselves, with a lot of help from friends and family, including Michael’s incredibly handy brother, Philip, who installed a new ceiling in the kitchen, all the trim in the kitchen and bathroom, and created the kitchen’s built-in space. We were able to accomplish all changes to our home on a tight budget, re-using and re-vamping what we already had. This allowed us to splurge on a new stainless steel fridge, new flooring, and new countertops! Please enjoy the fruits of our labour!
Hey everyone…thanks a million for being patient while I made a whole whack o’ changes to A GRAND REVIVAL over the last week or so. It has been a lot of fun playing around with various themes, headers, backgrounds, widgets, formats, etc., and I am tickled pink with the results of my (somewhat obsessive) tweaking.
Let’s take a quick look at what changes I have made…
1. CHANGE OF THEME
If you’re a wordpress.com user, you know that there are a wide variety of free themes to choose from. Originally, I picked the “Bold Life” theme, as I found the grungy, antique-feeling paper texture, centered main title, and general esthetic appealing. This theme also seemed befitting for the documentation of my 122 year-old home’s revival. However, after a couple of months of blogging, I found I longed for some of the really cool features I had seen on other blogs. So the search began for a blog that still interested me visually, but had more flexibility and features.

BYE BYE, BOLD LIFE
A new blog that I follow using this theme is:
Below are some of the themes I considered.
Dear Fellow Revivers,
By now, many of you will have noticed that change has been afoot here at A GRAND REVIVAL. Over the last week, I have been playing around with a new theme, reformatting (or at least attempting to reformat) my posts and pages, and contemplating the direction I wish the blog to go. I ask for your patience during this time. Change is not always easy, but we will get through this together (hahaha).
Thanks so much for your support and understanding.

I have to say, I really like change — well, good change at least. Ever have one of those years where your whole world turns upside down, and life as you know it suddenly changes (and not in a good way)? I have. Mine was 2011 — the year of unprecedented change (and again, not the good kind). I pinky-swear (or pinky-square, if you’re my son Liam) that I will open up about the events of my last year, and finally get around to expressing how starting this blog has helped me pull out of a pretty dark place, later this week.
For now though, I will focus more on the sunnier side of the street.
